The Craziest Vacation Homes Out There

Ah, summer vacation—full of sunny days, ice cream treats, and…maybe even perusing the craziest vacation homes on your block? Whether you vacation at the beach, in the mountains, or your favorite off-the-beaten-path spot, see if one of these quirky homes is up to rent for next year.

The Shire – Trout Creek, MT

For fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic series, head to Montana for a stay that’s equal parts fantastical and tranquil. It has all the amenities you could need on vacation, including a full kitchen, dining area, living room, and even a custom bar. Pull up a book and relax in this architecturally magical home for a week (or more)!

The Sweet Escape – Orlando, FL

This candy-themed party house is yours for the taking, if you’re craving something sweet for a vacation getaway. The pool is shaped like an ice cream cone, there’s plenty of games on site, such as laser tag and a gumball pinball machine, and even a 1,200 square foot karaoke club—all within the mansion and the grounds itself. The price is hefty, but well worth it for the whimsical vacation that will bring you right back to your childhood.

If you want 360 views of wildflowers in bloom, possible wildlife sightings, and ample opportunities for hiking, stargazing, and horseback riding, then this unique stay in Wyoming is calling your name. Located in Medicine Bow National Forest, this lookout became a vacation rental option in 1977, and has been a favorite for outdoor lovers since.

Water Tower – Huntington Beach, CA

Another higher altitude vacation spot, the Water Tower in Huntington Beach is sure to provide one unique stay. With easy access to the beach, a historic flair, and over 3,000 square feet of living space, this Orange County home is ideal for a different take on your typical week at the beach.

Theme Home – Orlando, FL

This one-of-a-kind home just minutes from Disney World is one packed vacation spot. Each of the 5 bedrooms has its own theme—The Moon, Castaway, and Treehouse, just to name a few. There’s also a movie room, a game room, and a London-themed room complete with a working phone booth. The only problem with this house is you may not want to leave!

Ditch your usual vacation pad for one of these other worldly homes next time you go to book a memorable trip!
